Upper Mustang Trek

The literal meaning of Mustang is “Fertile Plain”, former kingdom of Lo and now it is a part of Nepal, bordering the Tibetan plateau which was opened for the tourist in March 1992. Upper mustang is a barren valley with Trans Himalaya. Mustang was once an important route for crossing the Himalaya between Tibet and Nepal, and many of the old salt caravans passed through Mustang. This is an area where we will trek to, discovering the wonders of the architecture, language, their interesting culture and traditions which are almost purely Tibetan.

Trekking in Mustang region is a unique experience which takes you to an arid region beyond the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. The route entails traveling across desert like landscape, barren ridges, deep canyons, eroded cliffs and moraine valleys. Trekking in Mustang is truly one of the most rewarding experiences in Nepal. So, through this trek you will have a close up view of the primitive society that has remained unaffected by modernization for centuries.

Day 01: Arrival in Nepal.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour.

Day 03: Kathmandua to Pokhara (Meals: B, L, D)

Day 04: Pokhara to Jomson-Kagbeni (Meals: B, L, D)

Day 05: Kagbeni to Chele (Meals: B, L, D)

Day 06: Chele to Gilling (Meals: B, L, D)

Day 07: Gilling to Charang (Meals: B, L, D)

Day 08: Tsarang to Lo Manthang (Meals: B, L, D)

Day 09: Explore Lo-Mangthang

Day 10: Trek from Lo-Mangthang to Drakmar (3,810 m): 6-7 hrs

Day 11: Trek from Drakmar to Ghiling (3,806m): 5-6 hrs

Day 12: Trek from Ghiling to Chhuksang (3,050m): 5-6 hrs

Day 13: Trek from Chhuksang to Jomsom (2,700m): 6-7 hrs

Day 14: Fly back to Pokhara

Day 15: Pokhara (Meals: B, L, D)

Day 16: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu

Day 17: Departure from Nepal.

Package Cost

Package cost always depends on the number of people travelling in your group, standard of the hotels you like to take, the mode of transportation you choose as (by private vehicle, tourist bus, plane, 4WD) and the period you are travelling (High season, Low season) etc. Please click on the next tab (ENQUIRY/BOOKING) and send us your inquiry. Cost Exclude(s)

  • Air travel to and from Nepal.
  • Purchases of bottled water while on the trek, gifts or alcohol.
  • Entry visas for Nepal (suggest getting 30 day tourist visa for Nepal on arrival into KTM).
  • Personal clothing and equipment.
  • Personal expenses whilst trekking such as laundry, showers, internet use.
  • All expenses incurred in the event of early departure (transport, extra hotel nights, etc).
  • Personal travel / trip cancellation insurance.
  • Excess baggage charges (if you have more than 20 kg luggage, cargo charge is around $1.5 per kg).
  • Any rescue costs.
